Dal 1967 John Greer espone le sue opere in Canada, negli Stati Uniti, in Corea del Sud e in Europa. Ha insegnato per ventisei anni scultura alla NSCAD University di Halifax in Nova Scozia (CA). Durante questi anni rafforza la sua capacità critica ed influenza la scultura contemporanea nel panorama artistico canadese.
Nel 2015 la Galleria d’Arte di Nova Scozia di Halifax gli dedica una grande retrospettiva dal titolo “retroActive” con un catalogo che illustra la sua produzione artistica. Nel 2009 riceve un riconoscimento alla carriera per l’arte contemporanea in Canada dal governatore generale per l’arte canadese. “Gathering” a Seoul in Corea e “Reflection” a Ottawa in Canada, opere dedicate ai volontari internazionali canadesi entrambe del 2001, sono ottimi esempi di come Greer lavora nell’arte pubblica. Nel maggio 2017 si inaugura il monumento dedicato ai sindacati dell’edilizia a Ottawa, Ontario (CA) e a settembre dello stesso anno una scultura pubblica per il giardino della giustizia McMutry. John Greer has exhibited his work since 1967 extensively in Canada, USA, Korea and Europe. For 26 years he was Professor at NSCAD University in Halifax, Canada. His thinking and teaching has shaped and influenced contemporary sculpture and art practice in Canada. In 2015 Greer had a major retrospective exhibition “retroActive” at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia. A 350-page monograph was published and is a manifest to Greer’s productive career. In 2009 Greer received the prestigious Governor General’s Award in Visual Arts, recognizing his lifetime achievement and significant contribution to contemporary Canadian Visual Art. “Gathering”, 2001 in Seoul, Korea and “Reflection, 2001”, the memorial to Canadian Aid Workers in Ottawa are an example of Greer’s involvement in public art. In May 2017 the Canadian Building Trades Monument will be unveiled in Ottawa, Ontario and a public sculpture for the McMurtry gardens of justice is due to be unveiled in Toronto in September 2017. In 2009 erhielt Greer den renommierten “Governor General’s” Preis in Visueller Kunst in Anerkennung seiner bedeutenden lebenslangen Leistung und seines signifikanten Beitrags zur zeitgenössischen Kanadischen Bildenden Kunst. “Gathering”, 2001 in Seoul, Korea und “Reflection”, 2001, das Monument für Kanadische Entwicklungshelfer in Ottawa sind Beispiele für Greer’s Werke im öffentlichen Raum.
